This episode is a deep dive into one of the most urgent and threatening environmental battles in Florida: the Southland rock mine proposal in the Everglades Agricultural Area.
We unpack the corruption, the fast-tracked approvals, the strategic language, and the political theater surrounding this project—and reveal how Big Sugar, private contractors, and local government worked behind closed doors to move it forward.
From backdoor deals to Christmas Eve filings, from public confusion to deliberate misinformation, this is the full story you haven’t heard—but need to.
If you care about clean water, public process, or the future of the Everglades, don’t miss this.

Very informative and insightful. And a podcast is an excellent idea to further educate members and the general public regarding water quality issues and CFCW. I hope you continue to have podcasts to further discuss relevant issues. I would also suggest interviewing other leaders who share in the same collaborative vision of clean water and Everglades restoration, for example someone from Friends of the Everglades, local Waterkeeper, FGCU Water School, Everglades Foundation, Tarpon and Bonefish Trust, or Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation just to name a few. Thanks for all you do and keep up the fight! Larry Scrabis, DVM captscrabs68@gmail.com
